Lemons are one of the main exports of Capri.
  • Lemon…everything! If Capri is known for anything, it’s for lemons. The climate is perfect for growing the tart fruit, but instead of lemonade, the locals make lemon drops, lemon chocolate, lemon liquor, and more. Don’t forget your sweet tooth!

  • Panini. Vendors are found at every turn in Italy (even on the small island) serving this dish. It’s a nice warm meal, but be prepared if you don’t like ham! I’m not entirely convinced that Europeans believe in eating chicken or turkey…

Drink...

  • Limoncello. Made of lemon rinds, water, alcohol and sugar, this strong drink is only made from the lemons of southern Italy. Several variations of this bright yellow liquor exist on the island. Some are stronger than others, but they are all very sweet and full of flavor.

Anacapri can be reached by small cars or a chairlift.

  • The breathtaking views from the top of the island. If you are feeling adventuresome, take a ride up the narrow roads to the highest point of the island, Anacapri. At almost 1000 feet above sea level, you don’t have to look far to see the dozens of houses scattered on the cliffs; the bright terracotta houses stand out against the dull rocks they stand on, and if you look real close, you may spot a mansion looming over the navy waters below.

Capri sits in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

  • Take a ferry ride around the island. Besides getting splashed with the refreshing salty water, you can see the colorful views, catch glimpses of red coral, and peek inside the famous Blue Grotto. It is said that couples who go under the famed “Arch of Love” will have a blue-eyed baby if they kiss.

  • Get lost in the narrow alleys that crisscross all over the town. Near sunset, walk to the top of the island to see the sun disappear beneath the choppy waves.

  • Keep an eye out for celebrities. The center of town is a hot spot for the rich and famous.

  • Dream about living there—because unless you have a budget of around $7 million, it’s probably not going to happen!
